nEVEn: Model Scanner & Dashboard
Overview
Upon completing the forensic scan, nEVEn automatically launches the Results Dashboard. This is not a passive report; it is an interactive mission control center where users inspect real-time project strain, pinpoint performance bottlenecks, and execute guided optimizations.
1. Top Header & Supervision Banner
- Top Header: Features the central
nEVEnbrand anchor flanked by dynamic capability titles that smoothly cycle through core feature domains (e.g., Model Scanner, Crash Protection, Guided Actions, Design Checkpoints). - Supervision Banner: Displays the live watch state, indicating the countdown to the next automated scan prompt or manual rescan availability.
The Adaptive Background Supervision & Cadence Engine:
Unlike naive background tools that run on fixed timers and freeze your computer during heavy modeling, nEVEn features an intelligent Adaptive Cadence Engine that continuously adjusts its watch loops based on model condition and workstation responsiveness:
- Model-Aware Baseline Cadence:
- Stable Model State (Green): Background check runs gently every 30 minutes (
1800s), staying completely out of your drafting flow. - Caution State (Amber): Watch cadence tightens to 25 minutes (
1500s) to monitor accumulating strain. - Critical Watchdog State (Cyberpunk Red): When a model enters dangerous strain levels, nEVEn activates a 5-minute Watchdog loop (
300s) to monitor project memory and intercept crashes before a fatal BugSplat occurs.
- Scan-Duration Adaptive Scaling (The Heavy-Model Cadence Rule):
nEVEn measures the exact duration of each diagnostic scan. If a massive architectural project requires extra time to analyze, the supervision engine intelligently scales back its frequency so your workstation CPU remains 100% responsive:
- Fast Scans (< 20s): Standard 1.0× baseline cadence.
- Deep Scans (20s - 34s): Automatically applies a 2.0× multiplier (e.g., doubling the interval to 60 minutes in Stable, 10 minutes in Critical).
- Heavy Scans (34s - 60s): Automatically applies a 3.0× multiplier (tripling the interval).
- Massive Scans (> 60s): Automatically applies a 4.0× multiplier (quadrupling the interval).
- Anti-Hitch Safe Deferrals:
- Dialog-Open Protection: If you are actively configuring settings, inspecting cards, or running a manual sync, background supervision safely defers itself with a 30-second backoff (
blocked) - never interrupting active cursor input. - Large-Model Startup Guard: On heavy models exceeding 120 MB, nEVEn automatically extends the initial startup scan delay to 120 seconds (compared to standard 60 seconds), allowing SketchUp's viewport and textures to fully settle before running diagnostics.
2. Top-Row Controls: Session & Statistics
A. Session Card (Top-Left)
Provides immediate identity and file-level shortcuts:
- Authority: Active PC user account / machine profile.
- Project & File Size: Displays the active model title and
.skpfile size on disk. If the active model has never been saved, this displaysUnsaved. [Save]/[Not Saved]Action Button: Allows the user to instantly save the active model to disk directly from the dashboard without closing the dialog. If the model is unsaved, clicking this triggers the native save dialog. Saving the project is strongly advised, as file-based features such as Texture Optimization require a saved.skpfile path to operate. If an unsaved session exceeds 34 minutes, the button activates an animated warning pulse to prevent accidental work loss.- Location &
[Locate]Button: Displays the storage directory. Clicking[Locate]immediately opens the containing folder in Windows Explorer or macOS Finder (hidden if the model is unsaved).
B. Statistics Card & System Profile (Top-Right)
Plots hardware strain, resource distribution, and model health:
- Dual-Percentage Bars (Geometry & Texture):
Each row contains two distinct percentage readouts:
- Category Share % (Top-Right of Row): Displays the total domain share against overall model load. Hovering displays: "Geometry / Texture share of total model load."
- Core Overlap Badge (Inside the Fill Bar): An inner badge indicating the proportion of that category consumed by the single heaviest asset. Hovering displays: "Core geometry / Core texture share of total..."
- Dual Circular Gauges (Right Side):
LOAD %Ring: Measures total hardware capacity consumed across geometry, textures, and data overhead. Hovering displays: "Overall model load from geometry, textures, and model data."HEALTH %Ring: Measures authoritative model integrity (0-100%). Penalties from duplicate groups, loose edges, and uncompressed textures reduce this score. Hovering displays: "Overall model condition after efficiency and severity penalties."
- Performance Profile Signal Icon (Aligned with
Statistics :Heading):
Displays a dynamic signal bar icon reflecting the hardware profile assigned by nEVEn based on detected PC specifications:
- 1 Signal Bar: Conservative Profile - Tuned for entry-level systems or laptops with tighter memory limits.
- 2 Signal Bars: Balanced Profile - Tuned for standard professional workstations.
- 3 Signal Bars: Extended Profile - Tuned for high-end rendering workstations allowing larger geometry and texture budgets.
The Hardware Performance Profile Calibration Matrix:
nEVEn dynamically scales safe modeling headroom according to the detected workstation tier:
| Profile Level | Target Hardware Environment | Safe Face Limit | Safe Edge Limit | Max Texture Budget |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conservative (1 Bar) | Mobile Laptops / Entry Workstations | 5,000,000 | 7,500,000 | 4,096 MB (4 GB) |
| Balanced (2 Bars) | Standard Architectural Desktop Rigs | 10,000,000 | 15,000,000 | 8,192 MB (8 GB) |
| Extended (3 Bars) | High-End Visualization & Studio Rigs | 15,000,000 | 20,000,000 | 12,288 MB (12 GB) |
Core Asset (Single Heavy Container) Sensitivity Thresholds:
Beyond overall polygon counts, nEVEn detects when an individual group or component monopolizes workstation capacity:
- Candidate Asset: An object crossing 70,000-130,000 faces or consuming more than 16%-22% of total category load.
- Caution Asset: An object crossing 100,000-200,000 faces or consuming more than 22%-30% of category load.
- Critical Asset: A single massive container crossing 134,000-300,000 faces (or 200,000-450,000 edges), immediately triggering Core Object focus and pulsing alert indicators.

D. Crash Risk Indicator
Crash Risk : XX%: A predictive stability metric dynamically calculated from active GPU VRAM exhaustion, system RAM headroom, and geometric density. It provides an empirical risk estimate of viewport instability or BugSplat vulnerability, serving as an early caution rather than an absolute guarantee of application failure.
6. Session Logs (The Model Black Box)
A. Overview
Clicking View Session Log (bottom-left of the Results Dashboard) opens the model's complete internal audit, revealing exactly which container, component definition, high-resolution texture, or third-party extension data is responsible.
B. The Interactive On-Screen Report (Session Report Modal)
To keep SketchUp responsive and prevent screen freezes on large architectural files, the report is organized into lightweight, collapsible sections (▾):
- Session Summary: Active model status (Critical, Caution, Stable), primary issue category, file size on disk, active session time, and total lifetime hours spent on the project.
- Change Since Previous Scan: Activates on subsequent scans within the session to display net differences across four core metrics: Geometry objects (
+/-), Texture count (+/-), Geometry Load % (+/-), and Texture Memory (+/- MB). - Status Reasons Table: Itemized list of active model warnings, detailing the specific category (Texture, Geometry, Stability, Storage) and exact severity.
- Geometry Inventory Table: Audits core assets, unique groups vs. duplicate copies, components vs. placed instances, and lists the heaviest 3D objects with face and edge counts.
- Texture Inventory Table: Lists the heaviest texture files in the project with image filenames, disk sizes, and pixel dimensions (e.g., 2K, 4K, 8K+).
- Embedded Extension & Renderer Data: Audits hidden third-party extension database tables and external renderer environments (such as render engine HDRIs, proxies, and unused plugin clutter). (Note: SketchUp's Native Purge cannot touch this hidden dictionary bloat; only nEVEn Absolute Purge safely removes it (> 1 MB) with explicit user permission).
- Display Capping Note: To maintain fluid viewport performance, the on-screen table displays the top heaviest assets, noting remaining items:
... (+ X additional assets recorded in [ COPY LOG ]).
C. [COPY LOG] Action (Direct Support Diagnostic)
Positioned at the bottom-left of the modal, [COPY LOG] copies the complete, unshortened technical audit directly to the system clipboard.
If your model is experiencing persistent lag or unexpected crashes, you can paste and email this diagnostic log to support@n1leshtools.com for immediate developer troubleshooting - allowing root-cause analysis without requiring you to share confidential 3D project files.
7. Action Controls & Dedicated Workflows
The remaining footer action buttons in the main dashboard trigger specialized workflows covered in dedicated guides:
[RESCAN]: Launches the RESCAN panel to apply automated model hygiene (Edge Cleanup, Deep Edge Cleanup, Native Purge, Absolute Purge, and Auto-Save) before refreshing diagnostic scores (detailed in 06_rescan.md).[FIND TARGETS]: Launches the Target Tracing engine to locate, center, and highlight high-strain geometry and texture assets directly in the 3D viewport (detailed in 05_find_targets.md).[OPTIMIZE]: Opens the OPTIMIZE Panel for in-place texture compression (downscaling 4K/8K to clean 2K/1K) and batch material cleanup (detailed in 04_optimize.md).[STANDBY]/[ACKNOWLEDGE]: Closes the dashboard while maintaining nEVEn's active background supervision (Standby for critical oversight, Acknowledge for monitored workflow).
Topic Related FAQ
What does "Crash Risk: XX%" mean in SketchUp? ›
Crash Risk is a predictive stability metric calculated from real-time GPU VRAM consumption, system RAM headroom, and mesh complexity. It provides an empirical risk estimate of viewport freezing or BugSplat vulnerability, warning users when memory pressure is nearing operating system crash thresholds.
What are the lifetime quotas for nEVEn Free Edition? ›
The Free Edition provides full diagnostic health audits and includes lifetime trial quotas for advanced tools: 5 Find Targets runs, 10 Find & Select runs, and 5 Texture Optimizations. To unlock unlimited runs, users can upgrade to nEVEn Pro or the flagship nEVEn Studio tier directly from the About dialog.
Why does nEVEn flag duplicate groups instead of components in SketchUp? ›
In SketchUp, copying a Group forces the software to duplicate every underlying polygon and edge in memory, inflating file size and viewport strain. Components, by contrast, share a single geometric definition and only record coordinate instances. nEVEn identifies duplicate groups and shows the exact wasted face count, allowing architects to convert them into components and instantly recover viewport performance.
How does nEVEn calculate its 0-100% SketchUp Model Health and Load Scores? ›
The Results Dashboard displays two complementary circular gauges:
* LOAD % (Hardware Capacity Strain): Evaluates overall workload on system resources, dynamically balancing geometry density (edges and faces) and texture VRAM consumption against the workstation's detected hardware profile.
HEALTH % (Structural Integrity): Measures model optimization (0-100%) based on geometric efficiency and mesh integrity, subtracting penalties for duplicate groups, stray edges, and oversized textures. A well-structured model achieves a score above 85% (Stable*).
How do I locate the heaviest 3D object or highest-resolution texture in SketchUp? ›
In the nEVEn Results Dashboard, check the Geometry Card for the Core Object (heaviest container) and click [FIND] to automatically zoom and select it in the 3D viewport. In the Materials Card, check the Core Texture (flagging 2K, 4K, or 8K image sizes) and click [Select] to pin it in the Material Browser, or click the header icon to open the image directly in your system's photo viewer.
How can I troubleshoot SketchUp crashes without sharing confidential 3D model files? ›
